About IKD

IKD began several years ago designing IKEA kitchens for IKEA authorized installation contractors. We've successfully completed thousands of IKEA kitchen designs for every possible range of size, shape, budget and style. We still continue to design for these IKEA contractors, but also serve those IKEA consumers that just want a design or will install themselves. Most often customers want a better quality design than what they can do with IKEA's Home Planner.

    Love this interpretation!

Any chance you could have a go at Ikea-ising Jamie Oliver’s latest kitchen, shown here:

I’m talking about the one with the ovens at belly-button height behind him, and the pull-out drawers at belly-button height to his left, behind him.

Everything just seems to be at the perfect height for “real” use and accessibility.

Wow! That one is quite the challenge! This will require some custom modifications but we’ll give it a shot! Stay tuned 😉

IKEA is relatively nenxpeisive. The catch is that most of the big items have to be built and guess who gets to build them? You. For some people the time spent building some of these famous kitchens is not worth the thousand dollars saved by not going to say, home depot and having one of them install it. With IKEA the saying, you get what you pay for applies more than you know. Yes, there are a lot of nenxpeisive items for sale there but the question is, how long do you think it will last? People who go into IKEA with high expectations, quality wise, for the bottom dollar are going to be disappointed.I think the answer you are looking for is that most of the items are relativly nenxpeisive. But if you dont enter the store with a list of the items that you need, you may end up buying way more product than you can afford. IKEA is set up in such a way that you have to walk through the entire store. There is one and only one pathway you can walk as apposed to say Fred Meyers or home depot where you have aisles. It is a great marketing technique, you have to look at everything just to get through the store. Just think about it. You go to a store you are familiar with like home depot and you are looking for a couple of items. You are able to go to those specific areas of the store and find what you need and leave without even seeing three quarters of the rest of the store. With IKEA it is worlds easier to impulse buy when you are made to see nearly the entire store.
